A bit about Scott...

Scott Devine is one of the most renowned bass players on the scene today. He began his musical journey in the early 90’s with private study on both electric and classical guitar reaching grade 8 by the age of 16. It was at this time in his life he met Chris May (founder of Overwater Basses) who as well as becoming a great friend and invaluable mentor throughout the years, he was the first to introduce Scott not only to the bass but also to jazz and improvised music.

In 2000 while attending an Alain Caron master class Scott had a ‘light bulb’ moment and decided he was going dedicate all his time and effort into becoming a ‘pro’ bass player. Since then he has gone on to study with an amazing host of world class musicians including SkuliSverrisson (Allan Holdsworth), Jeff Andrews, Ralph Alessi, Ravi Coltrane, Brad Shepik and Adam Rogers. He was also lucky enough to study extensively with Gary Willis in Barcelona from 2006 to 2007.

Scott has played, recorded, shared taxis, vans, planes and boats with players such as, Adrian Ingram, Martin Simpson, Gary Boyle, Neil Brocklebank, The Drifters, The Four Tops, The Nolans, Marisa Turner (Prince, Chaka Kahn). He currently plays with Peter Grant (top 5 jazz artist) performing at venues such as Pizza Express (soho), The 606 Club and Montreal grand prix.

Throughout June and July of this year he toured with the nationally renowned Indian fusion band Samay featuring Jesse Banister who is looked upon to be the worlds finest Indian classical sax player and also tabla legend BhupinderChaggar.

While studying in New York in January 2008 Scott was also invited to play with The Jeff Andrews Band (Mike Stern, Vital Information).

Scott is currently writing for his debut album, due for release in 2009.
