Electronics

The electronics used in Overwater basses are designed to be subtle but effective in use, with an emphasis on ‘real use' tone control. All components are chosen for their low noise properties. Pick-up coils and the control cavity are fully shielded against outside interference by low resistance nickel based shielding paint and aluminium foil. Quality Gotoh machineheads. Preamp Blend

Each pickup has its own input amplifier stage, coupled with its own internal gain preset, with 0 -10dB variation. The blend section is an active stage - this prevents the cross-feed that can be experienced with passive blend circuits, where the output from one pickup feeds into and is loaded by the other, and vice versa.
Overwater Basses are professional instruments and equally at home in the studio, theatre pit or on stage. Originally developed with amp guru Dennis Cornell, the Overwater 3 band circuit has in recent years been upgraded and redesigned by John East of 'E-Pro' and, we believe it is one of the most musical circuits currently available. We use the highly acclaimed E-Pro circuits in our J-Series basses.

EQ

The EQ is both subtle and natural sounding and gives similar results to a passive section with very gentle curves.
BASS +/-12dB @ 50Hz - Very gentle 'shelving' curve.
MID +/- 6dB @ 250Hz - Gentle 'bell' curve.
TREBLE +/- 6dB @ 1kHz - Extremely gentle 'shelving' curve designed to contour the whole of the upper response of the bass, from the mids right through to the very top end.

Power Supply

A single 9 volt 'PP3' type battery is used to power this circuit and can be accessed via the flip top compartment on the back of the bass. The circuit has relatively low power consumption (approximately 1 milliamp) and several months use can be expected from each battery.
